Britta Meiers Carlson is a practical theologian, Lutheran pastor, and seminary professor who specializes in critical research on church and society, social movement strategy, and the US immigration system.

About Britta

Dr. Meiers Carlson's work centers on the intersection of church and society, with particular attention to ecclesiology, immigration, economic inequality, and decolonizing theology. She currently serves as Visiting Assistant Professor in Practical Theology at the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Britta enjoys engaging congregations, synod assemblies, and church retreats through preaching, speaking engagements, and the facilitation of workshops and trainings. Her sessions have covered a wide range of topics, including:

  • The relationship between the church and the U.S. immigration system

  • Immigrant sanctuary practices

  • Community organizing strategies for congregations

  • Justice-oriented approaches to evangelism

An experienced instructor in pastoral Spanish, Britta also offers private tutoring for individuals seeking to strengthen their language skills for ministry.
